Yes, there is a housing shortage, and we should not blindly oppose progress. But we must oppose blind progress. Developers who are asking to rezone this block and allow  for 11 story and 14 story buildings are being  blind to our community of 2-6 story homes and buildings. Our communities do not have the necessary infrastructure to support such density - transportation, schools, sewer lines, sanitation, traffic would be overwhelmed. Add more housing, yes. But it must be done in a careful and thoughtful way, by respecting our neighborhoods and the guidelines that are in place for good reasons.
To be clear - we support new housing, we favor environmentally responsible development
that respects the historic scale, fabric, and character of our neighborhoods and insist that buildings be kept to a respectful 7 stories maximum
